Q: What operators can I use to control my search results, and how do they work?
A: You can use quotation marks( “ ” ) and minus(-) signs. Using plus(+) signs has no effect when searching in Superintendent’s Manual.
Use quotation marks to search for a specific phrase. Example: Searching for [high noise level] (without the brackets) will yield articles containing all three words, ranked by relevance. Searching for [“high noise level”] will only yield articles containing this exact phrase.
Use minus signs to exclude words (or even phrases) from the results. Example: Searching for [high noise level –planning] will yield all articles that contain the words high, noise and level, but not the word [planning].
